This procedure concerns the granting of a licence to establish an antique shop.

Conditions

Applicants shall have two years of professional experience in antique shops

Applicants should be a scientific profession-al in relevant museums, provided that at least 5 years have elapsed since the day of cessation of the profession.

Applicants should hold a degree in archaeology

Applicants shall not have been recognised as monument collectors

Applicants shall not practice a profession related or having been related to the protection of monuments.

Availability of a suitable shop and storeroom that meet the standards defined in the relevant legal framework.

Shops shall have αn appropriate security system (alarm)

Shops shall have firefighting and fire protection facilities in accordance with a firefighting study approved by the Fire Department.

Showcases should have protective glass and lockers and a lighting and humidity adjustment system must be installed

Shops shall have appropriate and sufficient lighting and air conditioning installations; they shall allow proper cleaning and disinfection

Access to people with disabilities must be provided

The shop and warehouses should not be located in basements

The use of flammable materials is not allowed in the shop and the warehouses

Shops and warehouses shall be located in cities with established Ministry of Culture services responsible for the protection of historical heritage. In island regions, antique shops are established only in cities that serve as seats of a Region or Regional Units.

Applicants shall not have been irrevocably convicted for felony or for a violation of cultural heritage law or for forgery, bribery, theft, embezzlement or acceptance of proceeds of crime.

It is prohibited to trade in the same shop casts, depictions or copies of cultural goods.
