Be a merchant in firearms.

In the case of an individual enterprise, the applicant must not be suffering from and have not been hospitalised for a major mental disorder or serious personality disorder. in any other form of business this requirement applies to all representatives and managers in the case of S.A. and limited liability companies and general partners in the case of general partnership companies and limited partnership companies.

In the case of an individual enterprise, the applicant must not have been irrevocably convicted of a. any misdemeanour prosecuted ex officio and committed with intent, for which a prison sentence of at least 2 years was imposed and b. any misdemeanour provided for by the provisions of Law 2168/93 and Law 3500/2006. Also, the applicant must not have been prosecuted for: a. acts punishable as a felony, b. violations of the laws on drugs and protection of society from organised crime, terrorist acts, violations of provisions concerning fishing with explosives or toxic substances and violations of Article 15 of Law 2168/93, c. acts provided for in Law 3500/2006. In any other case of an enterprise, this requirement applies to all representatives and managers in the case of companies limited by shares and partnerships and to partners in the case of companies limited by shares and partnerships.

Deactivated weapons to be imported must be accompanied by a certificate of deactivation issued by an official verification authority of the country of origin.

The prescribed security measures must be complied with.

  • An application for import indicating the details of the firearms, as well as the following information: (1) Surname, First Name, Fathers Name, Mothers Name, Date and place of birth, home address, ID or passport number, date of issue and issuing authority, occupation, telephone number and email. (2) In the case of a legal entity: Name or trade name and registered office, as well as the above mentioned details of the legal representative. It must be expressly stated that it concerns a merchant.

This certificate shall be delivered by the medical practitioner to the person who requested his or her examination in a sealed envelope and shall be valid as long as the issued licence and shall be submitted only in the event that three years have elapsed since the previous one. This document is not required when the requested license is to be issued within three (3) years of the license for which all required documents were submitted.
3A Formal Declaration of the person concerned, in accordance with Law 1599/86, stating that the applicant does not fall under the prohibitive provisions of Article 18 of Law 2168/1993 and that he/she is not a fugitive from justice or punishment. In the case of an individual enterprise, it concerns the representative of the enterprise, while in any other form of business it concerns all representatives and managers in the case of S.A. and limited liability companies and general partners in the case of general partnership companies and limited partnership companies.Solemn Declaration

6Certificate of deactivation of a third country verification authority.Certification

In the case of a third country verification authority, not recognized by the European Union, the items to be imported, immediately after their entry and within one (1) month from their receipt by the customs office of entry, are transferred, with the same authorization, to a Greek verification authority, in order to confirm that they have become permanently unfit for use, to receive the required marking and to issue a certificate of deactivation.
7A formal declaration to be submitted to the competent Criminal Investigation Department, containing full details of the manufacturer and importer, the type, name and technical characteristics of the items. The marketing licence shall be sought from the records of the competent authority in the district in which the commercial activity is carried out.
