Description

The process concerns the announcement of commencement of the profession as a Marine Chemist. All ships and vessels are required to obtain a GAS-FREE certificate in order to be allowed to enter a repair base. The Marine Chemist is the holder of the special licence for the issuance of such a certificate. Concerns citizens.

1Certified photocopy of Chemistry degree for chemists or Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) professional license for chemical engineers. In the case of a degree from an institution from a non-EU country, an attestation from DOATAP or a corresponding body of an EU Member State is required, showing that the degree is equivalent and corresponds to those awarded by the respective EU institutions.Proof of Study

Notes

-Attestations of experience shall be issued either by Shipping Chemists who are already entitled to practice the profession or by shipbuilding and repair companies. Certificates of experience from licensed Shipping Chemists who are not licensed in Greece or from another country of the European Union or from shipbuilding companies operating in countries outside the European Union shall not be accepted, unless otherwise required by transnational agreements. -The above attestation shall be accompanied by a dated logbook of inspected tankers which shall include: - date / time of inspection - name of tanker - ship register number - anchorage - captain’s name - ship areas examined -The logbook shall be signed for each tanker in question by the marine chemist who is already entitled to practice the profession or the person in charge of the shipbuilding and repair base. -For refineries, the units inspected by the candidate shall be mentioned, such as Tanks, Containers, Reactors, Pipelines, etc.
