Conditions

The person concerned must have obtained a master oxyacetylene welder class II licence in order to be approved for participation in the examinations with a view to obtaining a master arc welder class II licence – 1st part.

If the person concerned is a national of a Member State of the EU and has obtained their professional qualifications in another Member State, either as a self-employed person or as an employee, their professional qualifications must have been recognised by the competent body of Greece (ATEEN) and they must have been granted a licence to practice the profession by the relevant region.

The interested holder of a master oxyacetylene welder class II licence must have completed 6 months’ previous experience as an arc welding technician in order to be approved to sit for the examinations with a view to obtaining a master arc welder class II licence – 1st part. Where the person concerned has attended a specific vocational training programme, the corresponding previous experience required may be replaced by up to 25% by attendance of one or more specific vocational training programmes, after a valid permit has been issued.

Candidates must pass the theoretical and practical examinations carried out by the selection board of the competent region in order to obtain the master arc welder class II licence.

Approval to sit for examinations: if the 15-day deadline for checking the completeness of the supporting documents expires, the interested party’s application shall be deemed to have been tacitly accepted, in accordance with Article 14(4) of Law 3844/2010 (Government Gazette, Series I, No 63). In the event of tacit approval as described above, the interested party may request issue of the relevant certificate from the licensing authority, in accordance with Article 10(4) of Law 3230/2004 (Government Gazette, Series I, No 44).

Remarks

The deadline for implementation concerns the issuing of a master arc welder class II licence (through extension of the master oxyacetylene welder class II licence) from the date of submission of the complete application. The procedure consists of three parts: Part 1 – Approval to sit for examinations to obtain a master arc welder class II licence, with the final step being the inclusion of candidates in an examination programme. Part 2 – Participation in examinations of the competent region for obtaining a master arc welder class II licence, with the final step being the forwarding of certificates of success in the examinations. Part 3 – Issuing a licence for a master arc welder class II licence, with the final step being the applicant’s receipt of a licence.
