The applicant must have reached the age of 18, for the calculation of which the date of birth is taken into account.

Natural persons may submit an application if: they are citizens of a European Union (EU ) or European Economic Area (EEA) member-state, or citizens of a third country holding a residence and work permit for Greece. Applicants shall have completed their 18th year of age, for the calculation of which the date of birth is taken into account.

The applicant shall not have been convicted of any offence that constitutes an obstacle to the appointment to a public post.

The applicant is not prosecuted as a fugitive or as running away from a trial for such an offence.

The applicant shall not be in a state of bankruptcy or privative or auxiliary court wardship nor have filed for any of the above states.

The applicant has announced the commencement of operations to the competent Local Tax Office (DOY) (reference to the DOY).

Ownership of the required number of boats of appropriate specifications.

Coverage of civil liability against third parties for death, bodily injuries as well as material damage and causing of pollution.

Within 50 days from the announcement, the Port Authority may prohibit the renting of motor boats and small speedboats, in case the legal prerequisites are not met or in case the submitted data cannot document the fulfilment of the required prerequisites. The above-mentioned time period has the character of an obligation imposed on the interested person to practice this profession, the obligation to wait and postpone the start of practicing it, in order to provide the Port Authority with the possibility to carry out an inspection and, if necessary, to prohibit the practice of the specific profession, if the legal conditions do not exist or do not arise.
